ArmInfo. A number of countries are still trying to destabilize the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, and Russia is aware of their attempts to oust Moscow from the region, but no one is able to play the role of a guarantor of peace and stability there except Russia, stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" program on the "Russia-1" TV channel.
At the same time, he noted that three to five years ago, attempts to oust Russian peacekeepers from the region and weaken ties between Russia and Armenia took place "with diplomatic masks on."
"Now these masks have long been dropped, and the fight is being waged head-on, with an open visor," Peskov said.
According to him, "indeed, a number of countries are still trying to destabilize the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, which, by the way, led to the Azerbaijani side officially declaring that this number of countries can hardly lay claim to any role as mediators, because they took a one-sided position."
Such countries, he noted, that have taken a one-sided position cannot claim anything, "this is both impossible and inappropriate."
"And the fact that they are trying to push us out of there - yes, we know this, but so far no one is able to play such a role as a guarantor, peace and stability in the region, except Russia. And Russia continues its efforts," Peskov said, reports Interfax.
