ArmInfo. There is no other way to describe RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's refusal to participate in the CSTO summit as anything other than a diplomatic demarche. Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition "Armenia" faction Armen Rustamyan told reporters on November 14.
According to him, if we were talking about an isolated case, one could refer to various explanations, but it is already becoming obvious that the country's top political leadership refuses to participate in events within the CSTO or the CIS. It would be understandable if the country's authorities took a course towards diversifying the state's security system, complementing one with the other, but in this case we can talk not about mutual complementarity, but about a change of priorities and a transition to another camp. "You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs," the MP repeated the well-known saying, adding that Armenia should not become this "chip" and come under attack from the power centers.
Rustamyan called for paying attention to the policies of enemies who are good at using confrontation to their advantage. "While we are taking this conflict upon ourselves," the politician added.
Earlier today, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, in a telephone conversation with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, informed the President of Belarus that he will not be able to participate in in the CSTO summit, which will be held in Minsk. Prior to this, Pashinyan did not take part in the CIS summit. The example of the head of government was followed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan. The FM did not take part in the CIS Foreign Council summit in Bishkek, and the Security Council Secretary refused to meet with colleagues in Moscow.
