ArmInfo. Washington supports the European Union observation mission in Armenia, the US Embassy told the RFE/RL's Armenian Service, essentially leaving the question unanswered.
RFE/RL had asked the embassy whether the U.S. could join the EU monitoring mission in Armenia, given that there is reliable information about the expansion of the mission.
However, the embassy only noted that they welcome the efforts of partners, including the European Union, to build mutual trust in the region, as well as to ensure a constructive climate for direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"The United States strongly supports Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, added the US embassy in Yerevan," the US Embassy said in a response.
On October 26, Head of the EU Civilian Observation Mission to Armenia (EUMA) Markus Ritter, jmet with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State overseeing policy for Southern Europe and the Caucasus Joshua Hack and U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien, after which the mission reported that the parties discussed the mandate of the EU mission and the development of the security situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
