ArmInfo. The Armenian opposition positively assesses the conclusion of an agreement on the supply of French weapons to Armenia.
In a conversation with journalists, NA member from the opposition faction Artur Khachatryan noted that for the first time in five years it was possible to reach an agreement on the supply of three radar stations and missiles for air defense systems. "I hope that these radar stations will be used. This should have been done a long time ago, instead of whining in the National Assembly that there is money but no weapons. It's the same if I come home and tell my wife that I have money, but the store doesn't sell bread. If you cannot ensure the security of the state, go and continue working as a newspaper editor," the parliamentarian emphasized.
Answering the question that Russia did not supply Armenia with the required volume of weapons within the framework of previously concluded agreements, Khachatryan noted that in the absence of an appropriate reaction from the Armenian side, there is no need to talk about this project. "If you see that weapons are not supplied, contact other suppliers.
For some reason, before this, arms supplies were carried out both from the West and from the East, and from the North or South. In 1991, when there was no Ministry of Defense yet, but there was a Defense Committee, I was a radio operator, I can assure you that the equipment I worked with was not made in Russia," the parliamentarian emphasized.
Earlier today, ArmInfo reported that on Monday Armenia signed a contract for the purchase of three Ground Master 200 radars made by Thales - the same ones that were supplied to Ukraine to repel Russian aggression - and more binoculars and sensors from Safran. Armenia and France also signed a protocol of intent to begin the process of purchasing short-range Mistral air defense systems produced by MBDA."
