ArmInfo. The demonstrators did not allow Ambassador of Armenia to Canada Anahit Harutyunyan to attend the charity dinner of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund's Board in Toronto, which was organized in the Armenian Center.
As it became clear from video footage distributed on social networks, the lunch was organized by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund on October 15 at the Armenian Center in Toronto. However, the young Armenian demonstrators gathered at the entrance to the center did not allow the ambassador into the building. The young people met the ambassador with posters reading "No to genocide", on which the forcibly displaced and starving people of Artsakh were depicted. The demonstrators also held banners with maps of Armenia with and without Artsakh, asking which region of the country would be next after the surrender of the NKR.
The demonstrators stated that they did not consider it appropriate for the ambassador to be present at the Armenian Center. According to them, they have nothing against Anahit Harutyunyan, however, in the current conditions, she represents the Republic of Armenia, and therefore is pursuing the destructive policy that the current Armenian authorities have proclaimed. "We have nothing against Harutyunyan, but she represents the current government, which surrendered Artsakh, caused the death of more than 5,000 young people, was involved in the deportation of 120,000 Artsakh Armenians and prevented the entry of our friends from the Diaspora into Armenia. Thus, the entrance to this center of treacherous authorities and their officials is unacceptable," the protesters noted.
In turn, the Ambassador of Armenia, outraged by such actions of young people, expressed regret at their steps, while emphasizing that without a strong Armenia it is impossible to keep the Diaspora from decay. At the same time, she called on the gathered guests to take part in the dinner and make generous donations for the sake of Artsakh. "The moral state of Artsakh Armenians today is so difficult that we should not succumb to emotions and similar incidents, and collect this money for them. I want to believe that this protest is a manifestation of not indifference to what is happening to our compatriots, after all, the most terrible thing in this life is indifference. I regret that these actions are manifested I againstArmenianm against the work and efforts of Armenians. I urge you to be sober so that you finally understand what the state and statehood are. This step is a blow not only to our compatriots from Artsakh, but also to the soldiers standing on the border of the Republic of Armenia," she said.
This caused the intense dissatisfaction of the protesters who did not agree with the ambassador's remarks that they were causing harm to the people of Artsakh by their actions.
