ArmInfo.France has agreed to sign an agreement with Armenia on providing military equipment, so that the state can ensure its defense. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna stated this during a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
"I can't talk about this issue in more detail," the Minister said.
She also emphasized that her visit to Armenia is another way to show that France will be extremely attentive to any threats to the territorial integrity of Armenia.
The Minister said that she had written to High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, with a proposal to expand the EU observation mission in Armenia and strengthen its mandate so that the latter would be more useful for the country. She noted that she also proposed including Armenia in the European Peace Mechanism, using the example of Moldova.
"Our goal is that the EU and its other members reacting to issues related to Armenia's territorial integrity the same way as France does. Any action which could threaten Armenia's territorial integrity should receive a clear response. I hope that in this matter we can count on our other partners, especially the USA," Colonna said.
