ArmInfo. Even after 30 years, Azerbaijan continues to carry out a policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh. President of the humanitarian non- governmental organization Christian Solidarity International (CSI), Dr. John Vern Eibner, announced at a press conference on September 15.
He presented to reporters a report that was published 30 years ago under the title "Ethnic Cleansing Today. War in Nagorno-Karabakh>, which presents data on the barbarities of Baku against the Armenians of Artsakh. "Unfortunately, if we slightly edit this report today, only the title will change, in which the phrase "and in Armenia" will be added to Nagorno-Karabakh," Eibner noted, adding that the war has also reached the Armenian land. In those lands of the country that are captured by Azerbaijan, ethnic cleansing has already been carried out. "There is no war for the sake of war, various mechanisms are used during its application, but Azerbaijan's goals are very specific, and they are not new, we have witnessed them throughout the history of the confrontation, namely, to obtain lands without Armenians," Dr. Eibner said.
Pointing to diplomacy as one of the instruments of war, the speaker emphasized its effectiveness if it is backed by threats of the use of force, which everyone is witnessing today. One of the manifestations of this diplomacy is attempts to expel the Armenian population from Nagorno Karabakh, which is facilitated by threats of military operations posing a threat to the local Armenian population. As an example of this policy, Dr. Eibner cited the statement of one of the Azerbaijani diplomats, Elchin Amirbekov, who a week ago told DW that "genocide is possible if the separatist regime in Karabakh continues to hold the population hostage."
Eibner noted that the methods of ethnic cleansing may change, but they are still consistent today. Moreover, against this background, the superpowers support Azerbaijan in achieving this goal.
