ArmInfo. Turkiye has supported the genocidal policy of Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh.
Thus, today the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the situation around the Kashatagh (Lachin) corridor, in which it fully justified the siege of Artsakh perpetrated by Azerbaijan, which has been going on for exactly 9 months.
" Turkiye has been following the longstanding debates on the Lachin road closely and understands Azerbaijan's legitimate concerns on the issue. nfortunately, these concerns that Azerbaijan has voiced loudly for a long time were not taken into account, and as a result, Azerbaijan took the measures it deems appropriate within the framework of its sovereign rights," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
Ankara also stated that "there is no justification for the criticisms against Azerbaijan regarding the Lachin road."
"The fact that medical passages are currently provided along the road, as well as other routes suitable for transporting large volumes of materiel, indicates that the Azerbaijani side is making every effort in good faith.
"Our expectation from Armenia is to avoid provocative steps, to recognize Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, to support the use of 'Agdam-Khankendi' and other alternative ways to meet the needs of the Armenian population in Karabakh, as well as to support efforts to reintegrate the Armenian population of Azerbaijan," the ministry said.
"Turkiye believes that to ensure peace and stability in the region, the territorial integrity, sovereignty and humanitarian efforts of Azerbaijan should be supported and actions that aggravate the situation should be avoided," the Turkish Foreign Ministry added, according to which, apparently, only violation of the rights of Armenians and the Armenian state is permissible.
Since December 12, 2022, Artsakh has been under blockade imposed by Azerbaijan. If until June 15 of this year the International Committee of the Red Cross and Russian peacekeepers had the opportunity to deliver at least limited quantities of essential products for the besieged population of Artsakh, then after June 15 this opportunity is not there either. The 120,000 population of Artsakh is on the verge of starvation amid the inaction of the international community. Every day people fall into hungry swoons in long lines for bread. Since July 26, trucks with a humanitarian cargo from the Armenian government in the amount of 360 tons have been standing in Kornidzor and are waiting for the opportunity to pass to the besieged Artsakh.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan cynically instead of reopening the internationally recognized road blocked by them, as an alternative to the Kashatagh corridor, offers to supply goods to the people of Artsakh from Azerbaijan via Akna-Stepanakert road. Thus, Azerbaijan is trying to complete the process of forcible subjugation of Artsakh.
On August 12, Armenia applied to the UN Security Council with a request to convene an emergency meeting on the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. We also add that a number of international experts in the field of jurisprudence already describe Azerbaijan's actions against the people of Artsakh as genocide.
