ArmInfo. Artsakh In his address to the Armenian people, President Arayik Harutyunyan voiced his grave concern over the consequences of the Azerbaijan-imposed blockade of Nagorno- Karabakh. According to him, Baku's inhumane steps are aimed at breaking the will and violating the right of the people to self-determination and at ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The President of the Republic of Artsakh stressed that the people of the republic expect Armenia, Russia, the United States, France, the EU, the UN Security Council to abandon the policy of encouraging and ignoring the aggressive and criminal policy of Azerbaijan, and then fulfill their obligations within the framework of the tripartite statement dated November 9, 2020 and the decision of the International Court of Justice on the unblocking of the Lachin corridor.
Harutyunyan called on the world Armenians to start holding protest actions around the world in order to force their governments to resist the humanitarian catastrophe initiated by Azerbaijan in Artsakh and fulfill international obligations. The international community must feel the will of the Armenian people, their readiness to defend Artsakh.
"Given the dire situation and the imminent humanitarian catastrophe, I decided to turn to the least - from now on I will join the sit-in protest on Renaissance Square in Stepanakert. This is my constitutional and civil right, an extreme step, and in this situation I have no other effective step I see," Harutyunyan said.
According to the head of Artsakh, if within one week, with international involvement, the state of the people of Artsakh does not return to at least some stable course, they will have to resort to tougher actions, both in Artsakh and beyond.
