ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded to opposition criticism over Yerevan's non-recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh's independence during the 2020 44-day war.
On June 27, at a meeting of the Inquiry Committee for Studying the Circumstances of the Hostilities Unleashed on September 27, 2020 ( 44-day war), Vahagn Aleksanyan, MP of the "Civil Contract" faction, referred to RPA Vice President Armen Ashotyan's remark about why Pashinyan did not address the possibility of recognizing the independence of Artsakh during the 44-day war. "It was our "diplomatic Iskander"," said Ashotyan.
In response, the prime minister asked a counter question: "Why didn't they recognize independence during the four-day war in 2016? Let them had used "that same Iskander" and had put an end to this whole thing".
When asked why NK's independence was not recognized during the 44-day war, Pashinyan replied: "For a very simple reason. If it was recognized, the war could not have been stopped even on November 9".
