ArmInfo.Bert-Jan Ruissen, Dutch politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from the Netherlands visited the Syunik region of Armenia and personally got acquainted with the Azerbaijani blockade of Artsakh. Armenian Ambassador to the Netherlands Tigran Balayan, who accompanied Ruissen on the trip, announced.
"With Arsen Torosyan accompanied Dutch MEP Bert-Jan Ruissen to Goris and the beginning of the Lachin corridor, where the genocidal Aliyev regime keeps illegal & sadistic Artsakh Blockade. In Goris we met people from Artsakh, unable to reach their homes. They told first hand stories about... ," Balayan wrote on his Twitter microblog.
It should be recalled that the only road that provides communication between Artsakh and Armenia and the outside world has been partially blocked since December 12, 2022 by Azerbaijan under a far-fetched environmental pretext. Against the background of the inaction of the international community, Azerbaijan, in violation of the tripartite statements of November 9, 2020, set up a checkpoint in the corridor on April 23. And since June 15, the corridor has been under a total blockade. The population of Artsakh is deprived of the opportunity to exercise fundamental human rights.
