ArmInfo.Azerbaijani serviceman Huseyn Akhundov was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Armenia. The Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Armenia reports.
According to the source, Akhundov was found guilty by the court of general jurisdiction of the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia (judge Napoleon Ohanyan) of killing Hayrapet Meliksetyan, 56, a security guard of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC).
Meliksetyan's family considers the sentence unacceptable and demands a life sentence. In early April, Huseyn Akhundov and another Azerbaijani soldier, Agshin Babirov, illegally crossed the RA border, and were arrested, thanks to the vigilance and efforts of the residents of border villages. On April 12, Akhundov killed Hayrapet Meliksetyan, 56, a guard at the ZCMC, near the village of Shgharshik.
