ArmInfo. In the coming months, the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA) plans to open three additional operational centers - in Kapan, Ijevan and Yeghegnadzor. This is stated in the message of the EU Delegation to Armenia.
The report emphasizes that on June 1, the head of the EU mission, Markus Ritter, together with head of the EU delegation to Armenia, Andrea Wiktorin, met in Martuni with the EUMA working group. Ritter presented the mission's mandate and activities, and briefed on security developments on the ground based on the mission's observations. He noted that in the first three months, a total of more than 300 observations were made from operational centers in Goris, Jermuk and Martuni. Every week observers cover more than 3800 km. <The mission took off with unprecedented speed. In the coming months, the mission plans to open three additional operational points in Kapan, Ijevan and Yeghegnadzor, gradually reaching full readiness in the near future. Our goal is to contribute to the stabilization of the security of the border regions. And, according to many Armenian officials, EUMA contributed to a certain stabilization of the situation. However, the situation remains unstable>, Ritter said.
We add that the mission of EU civilian observers in Armenia started its activity in February for a period of two years. It monitors violations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
