ArmInfo.Armenia has applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for an interim measure against Azerbaijan over the kidnapping of two Armenian servicemen.
"On May 28, Armenia applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for an interim measure against Azerbaijan over the kidnapping of two Armenian servicemen. The Court is awaiting Azerbaijan's response. At present the information has been confirmed on the servicemen being in Baku, and we are hopeful for a response in the coming days," the RA Office of the Representative on international legal matters reports.
On May 26, from 7 p.m., communication with 2 servicemen of the RA Armed Forces supplying food to combat positions was interrupted.
On May 26, the Azerbaijani media outlets, after it the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, disseminated misinformation claiming that the Armenian side made a sabotage-infiltration attempt and that two servicemen of the Armenian Armed forces - Harutyun Hovagimyan and Karen Ashot Ghazaryan - had been detained.
The following day, the Armenian servicemen were charged with terrorism, smuggling, inciting racial, social and religious hatred and illegally crossing Azerbaijan's state border.
