ArmInfo. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu accused the West of trying to interfere in the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, the West is trying in every possible way to increase its presence and discredit the Russian army.
"Now it is the Russian peacekeeping contingent that ensures security in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, the West is trying in every possible way to intervene in the situation, increase its presence and discredit the Russian peacekeeping policy," the minister said at a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), TASS reports.
In his opinion, the West is trying to push Russia out of the South Caucasus rather than to ensure the security and prosperity of the region in the long term.
"An example of this is the so-called civilian mission of the European Union in Armenia, which includes servicemen and intelligence officers. I think there is no need to explain what they are actually doing," Shoigu said.
