ArmInfo. "In our region, the security and stability systems have been deformed or are deforming," RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a government hour in the RA National Assembly on May 3, giving an assessment of the strategic situation around Armenia and Artsakh.
According to him, this means that Armenia and the Armenian people are facing new security challenges. The system, which was supposed to ensure security and stability in the region from the beginning, is currently not working at a proper level with all its effectiveness. In this vein, Pashinyan pointed out the importance of solving the problem of a deformed security system in order to be able to manage the existing challenges. The question is how and by what methods it is possible to correct the situation. It is necessary to build up the security system with new components in the overall security architecture, which is an approach, but not a fact, that in this way strategic security and stability in the region will be ensured. New components can help manage some risks, but they can also raise new risks.
Pashinyan stressed that security and stability in the region can only be ensured through a comprehensive peace, the achievement of which is quite possible. But for that, it is necessary to show political will and detail the parameters for achieving peace. "Obviously, we have the political will to achieve peace, the question is how much we will be able to form such parameters of peace in the negotiation process that can be acceptable for the Republic of Armenia and for the people of the Republic of Armenia," the RA Prime Minister emphasized.
The prime minister emphasized that efforts of all parties are needed to achieve the set goal. "Since we still do not have a lasting peace, it can only mean one thing: one of the parties is not making sufficient efforts for that," the RA Prime Minister stressed.
