ArmInfo. Azerbaijan threatens to expel Armenian priests from Dadivank monastery complex. Today, in an interview with journalists, Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman to the State Committee on Religious Associations of Azerbaijan said that the Armenian priests should leave the monastery.
Moreover, according to the sad tradition of appropriating or distorting the history of cultural and spiritual values of other peoples adopted by Azerbaijan, he declared that this Armenian monastery is not Armenian at all, but belongs to "Caucasian Albania". However the Armenian inscriptions on the ancient monastery say quite the opposite.
Dadivank or Khutavank (lit. 'monastery on the hill') is an Armenian monastery of the 9th and 13th centuries, one of the largest monastic complexes of medieval Armenia. It is one of the most important examples and masterpieces of Armenian architecture. It is located in the Karvachar region, territories of Artsakh occupied by Azerbaijan.
