ArmInfo. French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna visited the resort town of Jermuk, which was seriously damaged as a result of Azerbaijan's aggression last year. She held meetings with a delegation of the EU mission in Armenia led by Mr Markus Ritter and with Chief of the General Staff, RA Armed Forces, Eduard Asryan.
During the meeting, Ms Colonna highlighted the importance of the EU Mission's work in Armenia.
Of importance is also the teamwork aimed at reducing tension and creating a favorable atmosphere for establishing peace, she added.
In his turn, Mr Asryan highly appreciated the EU Mission's activities in Armenia, which is curbing Azerbaijan. He also pointed out successful cooperation with the EU Mission on the border.
In her turn, Ms Colonna pointed out positive cooperation between the EU Mission and Armenia. According to her, the EU Mission's effective activities enable the EU to get information which is most useful for all the EU member-states.
This monitoring mission is not a military one. Still, it reduces tension, Ms Colonna said.
The French FM arrived in Armenia for an official visit on April 27. Armenia's FM Ararat Mirzoyan, met her at the airport.
The French delegation visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial. On Thursday evening, Ms Colonna held talks with Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan.
Today, the Armenian and French FMs are scheduled to hold a meeting.
