ArmInfo. An unacceptable situation has arisen in Nagorno-Karabakh - several people, having agreed with Russian peacekeepers, are importing goods to the republic. And, since there are restrictions on the number of cars entering, they contribute to the increase in food prices. Former State Minister and co-founder of the We Are Our Mountains Territorial Development Agency Ruben Vardanyan stated on March 29 via video link with Yerevan during the presentation of the report "On assessing the losses of the economy of Nagorno-Karabakh due to the blockade".
The former state minister explained that since December last year, a limited number of cars have been allowed to pass through Artsakh every day. Despite the fact that today it was possible to reach an agreement to increase the limit of cars allowed to pass, but the restriction is still in effect. As a result, a several people make a lot of money, employ a few hundred more people who get paid, and a few thousand people buy those products.
But since they can make more money by importing "watermelon, pomelo or pineapple", they have been imported at the expense of priority products, while many are deprived of the opportunity to buy food even with coupons issued in December. In addition, since the coupons have been extended, a situation arises in which a person who has used up the limit cannot receive a new coupon in a timely manner, he pointed out.
<Efforts to establish transparency and fairness mechanisms that were supposed to be established have been suspended. Those who have connections in power make money, taking advantage of the situation - this is inadmissible. This does more harm than the situation with the economy>, Ruben Vardanyan concluded.
