Speaker: Process of ratifying agreement on Armenia`s accession to  Rome Statute was launched before the well-known decision of The Hague  Court

ArmInfo.The process of ratifying the agreement on Armenia's accession to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court was launched 2-3 months ago, that  is, before the well-known decision of The Hague Court (on issuing an  international warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir  Putin, ed. note). President of the National Assembly of the Republic  of Armenia Alen Simonyan told journalists on March 20.

According to him, there are people in Armenia who need this  accession. He recalled that the draft agreement will be considered by  the RA Constitutional Court for its compliance with the requirements  of the country's Basic Law. , the RA NA President said.

It should be noted that, the ratification of the agreement on the  accession of Armenia to the Rome Statute of the International  Criminal Court can be a means of action against the Russian President  Vladimir Putin on the territory of Armenia. On March 17, the  International Criminal Court in The Hague issued international  warrants for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well  as children's rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova. They are  accused of deporting Ukrainian children. "Today, March 17, 2023, the  Second Pre-trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court issued  arrest warrants for two persons in the context of the situation in  Ukraine: Mr. Vladimir Putin and Ms. Maria Lvova-Belova," the ICC's  press release reads. The International Criminal Court explains that  Putin and Lvova-Belova are suspected of illegally deporting Ukrainian  children. Earlier, the United Nations Commission of Inquiry stated  that the transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia could be considered  a war crime.
