ArmInfo. The Government of Moldova has begun the process of denunciation of the agreements signed within the CIS. According to some media reports, Mr. Nicolae Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, told Jurnal TV.
"Moldova has declared that it will join the EU, its all foreign policy goals and participation in international organizations will be subordinated to the goal of European integration. It is obvious that withdrawing from CIS agreements, which are incompatible with our goals, will continue," he said. He noted that many of the 330 agreements that the republic has signed over the years of independence " do not act or are not in the interest of Moldova".
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu spoke in favor of maintaining ties with the CIS, as we are talking about hundreds of agreements, including bilateral ones. According to her, it is necessary to continue pragmatic cooperation with the CIS even after the country has received the status of a candidate for EU membership. However, the head of Moldova has never taken part in the CIS meetings.
