ArmInfo.The Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise, which carries out work on the disposal of unexploded ordnance in the settlement of Daraya, Damascus province, Syrian Arab Republic, in cooperation with the UN offices located in Syria (UNMAS, UNDP, UNOCHA, UNHCR), from February 12 of this year participates in the elimination of the consequences of an earthquake.
According to the Center, a group of specialists from the organization is included in the ranks of Syrian seismologists and is currently assessing the emergency condition of buildings in the city of Aleppo, as well as other activities related to ensuring the safety of the local population.
The earthquake in Syria killed 8.5 thousand people. At the same time, it is difficult to say the exact figures for the dead and injured, as they continue to grow every day. Earlier it became known that the damage from earthquakes in Turkey and Syria could exceed the amount of 84 billion dollars. According to the calculations of the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation, the consequences will be about 10 percent of GDP.
