ArmInfo.Armenian-Azerbaijani tension remains both along the border and in Nagorno-Karabakh, French FM Catherine Colonna state in Parliament.
According to her, it is evidence of lack of confidence in the security guarantees Russia has allegedly provided in the region.
In this context she pointed out the commitment of the EU and France to support Armenia, referring to the EU monitoring mission on the Armenian side of the Armenian-Azerbaijani line of contact.
Ms Colonna is sure that, despite some incidents, the mission has reduced the escalation risks on the border. The French FM stressed that the mission must continue its activities as long as necessary.
Ms Colonna stressed Paris will continue efforts aimed at establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The 40-member EU mission launched its activities in Armenia on October 20, 2022. According to official statements, the mission was to work for 2 months. However, a need for prolonging it is being discussed.
