ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he is ready to sign (on October 31, ed. note) a document in Sochi on the extension of the mission of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh for the required period. He stated this at the 6th Congress of the Civil Contract ruling party.
"We would like the Russian peacekeepers to continue their activities in Nagorno-Karabakh. But I believe that the President of Russia should make such a proposal, and if necessary, I will do so, but the Russian Federation should support that proposal, because I am not the one who can decide that the Russian peacekeepers will stay there for a long time. This is a tripartite document, and if we and Russia agree, we will be in the majority," the prime minister explained. At the same time, he recalled the case in Parukh, noting that an agreement was reached at the highest level to resolve the issue.
However, Pashinyan noted that the promise and obligation that the Azerbaijanis should leave the zone of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh has not yet been fulfilled.
He also refuted rumors that Armenia is refusing the formula proposed by the Russian Federation and is choosing the format for settling relations with Azerbaijan and resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, proposed by the West. The head of government noted that back in January 2021, Armenia adopted the Russian format and reached an agreement with the Russian Federation on this issue.
"The cornerstone of this agreement was that the Russian Federation is the guarantor of the security of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Republic of Armenia," he stressed.
