ArmInfo.Azerbaijan is torpedoing Armenia's efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan state at a meeting of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly in Samarkand, on Friday.
"Regrettably, we can state that the efforts Armenia and the international community are exerting to establish long-lasting peace in the South Caucasus are being torpedoed by Baku's militant rhetoric and military actions," TASS reports quoting Mr Simonyan as saying.
He reminded the participants of Azerbaijan's large-scale military aggression against Armenia in defiance of international law.
"Azerbaijan's offensive resulted in hundreds of casualties, missing people and POWs on the Armenian side, with serious damage to civilian infrastructure and some parts of Armenia's sovereign territory occupied by Azerbaijani armed forces," Mr Simonyan said.
He reported horrific murders of Armenian POWs in Armenia's sovereign territory.
"In this context, an appropriate international investigation must be carried out and the perpetrators of the atrocities must be called top account. Regrettably, absence of unequivocal and targeted assessments by international and regional agencies has allowed Azerbaijan to continue its aggressive policy," Mr Simonyan said.
