ArmInfo.Political consultations between the foreign ministries of Armenia and Portugal were held in Lisbon. From the Armenian side, the consultations were led by the head of the European Department of the RA MFA Ara Margaryan, from the Portuguese side - by the head of the European Department of the MFA of Portugal Paulo Santos.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed in detail a wide range of issues on the bilateral political agenda, touched upon the Armenia-EU partnership, the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the large-scale reforms being implemented in Armenia.
During the consultations, steps aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation were also discussed, an exchange of views on the need to develop cooperation in sectoral areas and promoting targeted initiatives took place. The importance of continuous cooperation on international platforms was mutually emphasized.
The interlocutors also touched upon international and regional dvelopments. Ara Margaryan presented to the Portuguese side the details and humanitarian consequences of the 44-day war and aggression carried out by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia. The imperative for the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the immediate repatriation of all Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan, was reaffirmed, in this context, considering it necessary to address the statements of the partner states. It was agreed to give regular contacts in this format.
