ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan does not rule out the extending the term of the EU monitoring mission at the border. He stated this on October 20 at a government meeting.
Pashinyan welcomed the start of the work of the EU civilian observer mission along the Armenian- Azerbaijani border. He recalled that the corresponding agreement was reached during the four-party meeting held on October 4 in Prague.
"I must note with satisfaction that the partners from the EU reacted very quickly, made a decision, and the preparatory group is already working in Armenia. In the near future, the main group will arrive in Armenia, an observation mission consisting of 40 people," he said.
As the prime minister pointed out, it was originally planned that the observation mission should work for 2 months. At the same time, there are opinions in the expert community about extending the term of this mission or making it indefinite, Pashinyan added. "I'm not sure about this, but in any case, this is a topic that is being discussed in our society and in expert circles. And, if we see such an opportunity and necessity, then we do not exclude that we will study the problem more deeply," the RA Prime Minister stressed.
