ArmInfo. As a result of the tripartite agreement of November 9, 2020, the Armenian Armed Forces have no control over the territories of Artsakh, and this is a fact, Eduard Aghajanyan, head of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, said during a press conference on October 18. The press conference was held with the participation of David Price, Chairman of the House Democracy Partnership (HDP) of the US House of Representatives, who arrived in Yerevan.
In particular, Aghajanyan stressed that in the post-war period, Armenia provided unprecedented financial assistance to Artsakh and will continue to provide it. "However, I think it is difficult to equate financial assistance with military guarantees. And in this regard, I believe that it is necessary to fix that the security of the people of Artsakh and the fact that our compatriots continue to live in their homeland depends on the Russian peacekeeping contingent stationed there," he said. At the same time, the parliamentarian noted the importance of the participation of the United States and the international community in the process of ensuring the security of the citizens of the Republic of Artsakh, and also attached importance to the efforts of Armenian diplomacy, as a result of which this involvement should be deeper and more comprehensive.
"We believe that this is the main and most realistic way to resolve the issue," he concluded.
