ArmInfo. Baku responded to the proposals of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on communications.
" Armenia should cease fake pretexts to evade from its commitments under Trilateral Statement of Nov 2020 to link auto/railroads through Zangazur corridor. To suggest 3 unrealistic options of check points for connectivity ignoring 20 months-long discussions is not a good policy," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said on Twitter, reacting to the RA Prime Minister's tweet.
It should be noted that the tripartite statement dated November 9, 2020 does not use such terms as a corridor, which today Azerbaijan is trying to push through by force.
Today, the RA Prime Minister stated that Yerevan is waiting for a positive reaction from Baku to the proposal to open border checkpoints. " A draft decision of Armenian Government on opening of 3 checkpoints on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to provide connection between eastern Azerbaijan & Nakhchivan is being formally circulated for several months. Government of Armenia is waiting for positive reaction from Azerbaijan," he wrote on Twitter. Earlier, in August of this year, the National Security Service (NSS) launched a project for the installation of three new checkpoints on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. According to the project, the checkpoints will be located from the Sotk community of the Gegharkunik region to the state border of the Republic of Armenia, on the M11 highway, as noted in the project, from the Azerbaijani side towards Karvachar (Kelbajar), in the Yeraskh community of the Ararat region - towards Sadarak, at about 7, 5 kilometers south of the Karahunj community of Syunik region on the M2 highway - towards Sanasar (Gubadli).
