ArmInfo.France is in full solidarity with Armenia in the face of violations of its territorial integrity and is taking action. French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna stated this during the questions and answers in the National Assembly, regarding the sending of the EU mission to the RA.
She recalled that from the very beginning, that is, after the September 13 attacks, France mobilized to stabilize the situation on the ground, demanded that the Azerbaijani forces return to their initial positions and supported the resumption of negotiations between the two countries.
"The summit you mentioned, organized by the President of the French Republic on the sidelines of the meeting of the European Political Community, i.e. in Prague on October 6, brought together the French leader, the President of the European Council, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan. This led to important results," said the French diplomat.
In this vein, she stressed that an agreement had been reached on the establishment of a European Union civil mission on the territory of Armenia for a period of two months along the border by the end of the month.
"The purpose of this mission is to stabilize the situation and initiate a process between the parties. In particular, we would like this mission to be able to contribute to the border delimitation process, which will be resumed in the coming days.
At the same time, we are working on the establishment of an OSCE fact-finding mission - I told you about this - to objectively assess the situation and needs, in particular humanitarian needs, after the clashes.
As you know, Armenia can rely on the support of France. We are working for the peace, in its interests," the French Foreign Minister summed up.
