


ArmInfo.The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) unanimously ruled that there was a violation of the right to life (Article 2 of the Convention) in the case of "Ashot Malkhasyan v. Armenia" .
The court ruled that the defense authorities of the country, by calling for military service Malkhasyan who was unfit for military service, endangered his life. Moreover, after his death there was no effective investigation of the case.
The court decided that Armenia should pay 35,000 euros as compensation for non-pecuniary damage and 2,500 euros as compensation for court costs to the applicant (father of a military serviceman-ed. note).
A. Malkhasyan was recognized as fit for military service by the General Medical Board and conscripted into service on June 25, 2009, and already on July 4, 2009 A. Malkhasyan lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital, where he died at the age of 22. Malkhasyan's father applied to the ECHR in 2014.
