Kremlin: Russian President is making every effort to help de-escalate  tensions on the Armenian- Azerbaijani border

Serious expert work is being carried out in line with the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on  the escalation of the conflict on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.  Press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry  Peskov announced.

"Last night I had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime  Minister Pashinyan. The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border,  the serious escalation there, was discussed. In line with the  conversation that took place, intensive work is now being carried out  at the expert level, I will not say more now.  We will keep you  informed as we receive the results of this work," Peskov said.

"In fact, it's hard to overestimate the role of the Russian  Federation, the role of Putin personally. Naturally, the president is  making every effort to help de-escalate tensions on the border. These  efforts are ongoing," Peskov told reporters, answering a question  about how the telephone conversation Putin and Armenian Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan contributed to the ceasefire on the border  between Armenia and Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reports.

On the night of September 13, the Armed Forces of the Republic of  Azerbaijan began large-scale military operations on the border with  Armenia using UAVs and large-caliber weapons. Armenia turned to  Russia, the CSTO and the UN Security Council in connection with the  aggression of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia.   In connection with the current situation, the RA police switched to  enhanced service.  There are reports of dead and wounded on both  sides. According to the RA Prime Minister, the Armenian side already  has 49 dead. Moscow announced the achievement of a truce between the  parties as of 09:00 in the morning. Meanwhile, the Armenian media  report on ongoing hostilities. France announced its intention to  appeal to the UN Security Council because of the situation on the  Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Armenia initiated a special meeting of  the OSCE Council.
