ArmInfo.Armenia remains guarantor of Artsakh's security, Secretary of thee RA Security Council Armen Grigoryan stated in an interview with civilnet.am.
He pointed out Russia's enhanced role after the 44-day war.
"Russia played its role before that as well. However, after the 44-day war it was considerably enhanced through the deployment of Russian peacekeepers," Mr Grigoryan said as he commented on the statements by MP of the Civil Contract parties.
Armenia continues providing social and humanitarian aid to Artsakh. Specifically, last year AMD 400mln aid was provided to Artsakh, with security component being the principal part.
Aware of its being the pillar of Armenian statehood, Armenia has always been assisting Artsakh in dealing with problems, including security problems.
"I believe that Armenia will continue doing so. But we should also take geopolitical changes into account, and Armenia's sovereignty may in some cases be under threat. In this context, I think, opinions have been voiced that Armenia has some sovereignty-related problems. And this is the key factor for our ruling force. Everything must be done to defend Armenia's sovereignty," Mr Grigoryan said.
In response to a remark that the national interests of Artsakh and Armenia are different, he assured the media outlet that it is not a difference between national interests, but understanding of where the center is and of priorities.
"If Armenia ceases to exist, Artsakh will as well," Mr Grigoryan said.
As to the remark that Armenia will not exist without Artsakh, Mr Grigoryan said.
"It is so. That is why Armenia is sparing no effort to defend Artsakh. And Artsakh is high on our foreign policy agenda."
As regards border delimitation and demarcation, Mr Grigoryan said that the authorized Border Commission will discuss the security-related issues. In this context, he recalled the Armenian side's proposal for mutual withdrawal of troops for creating more favorable conditions for border delimitation and demarcation.
As regards Brussels negotiations, Mr Grigoryan said that Armenia's authorities are doing their best for them to be as transparent as possible to prevent any speculations.
He pointed out that the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh will be included in a comprehensive peace agreement to be signed with Azerbaijan.
In this context, he recalled five proposals by Azerbaijan and Armenia's reply proposals. The proposals contain security-related issues and issues of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians, which is the basis for Artsakh's status.
"Of course, peace implies peace in Nagorno-Karabakh as well. Two other key issues related to the borders and unblocking of communications strongly linked to Nagorno-Karabakh. But for the Karabakh problem, those two would not be on thee agenda as well," Mr Grigoryan said.
He stated that the same issues, including Artsakh's status, are being discussed both in Moscow and in Brussels.
