ArmInfo. The current refusal of Artsakh even in the status that it had in the USSR has become a natural result of the policy of the leadership of Armenia and Artsakh since 1994. Expert in the field of defense and security Hrachya Arzumanyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"It was this policy that led to the participation of the Armenian people in the 44-day war in the conditions of international isolation and the absence of military allies. As a result of this aggression, Armenia lost the critically important territories of Artsakh and Syunik. And today the Armenian nation is facing the threat of the continuation of the Genocide and the destruction of Artsakh by Turkish methods of the late 19th and early 20th centuries," he is convinced.
According to the expert, the consent of the current Armenian authorities with the proposed decision, puts the United States and France in a rather awkward position, sharply narrowing their room for maneuver. As a result, in such conditions, these two co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group only managed to return the Artsakh problem to the international arena in spite of the resistance of Russia and Turkey.
In his opinion, it was this line of power centers with interests in the region, as well as the need for the presence of Artsakh people in Artsakh to justify Russia's military deployment in Artsakh, gave some time to comprehend the current situation. The latter, according to the expert, inevitably leads to the inadmissibility of private solutions to overcome the consequences of another catastrophe that has befallen the Armenian people.
"Now we are facing deep challenges and threats, a symmetrical response to which requires a complete reversal of the state and socio-political course of Armenia. And such behavior of the Armenian authorities has led to the formation of an existentially severe threat, that leaves the people of Artsakh with no alternative but to once again return their sovereignty over Artsakh. And today, the people of Artsakh are faced with the need to make a sovereign decision, on the basis of which a new Armenian policy in Stepanakert and Yerevan should be built," Arzumanyan stressed. that leaves the people of Artsakh with no alternative but
In the opinion of the expert, only an affirmative answer to the question whether the people of Artsakh have the will to once again declare their right to a sovereign decision and the adoption of such a decision, will return them the right and opportunity to live in their homeland. And this should be done on the basis of the existing experience of following the path of Miatsum, on which sovereign decisions were made that shape the state and political future of Artsakh. According to Arzumanyan, all other issues: ensuring security, strengthening the army, Armenia's participation in all these processes, are derivatives.
