ArmInfo.Secretary of the RA Security Council Armen Grigoryan, who is in Georgia on a working visit, met with Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Secretary of the National Security Council Vakhtang Gomelauri in Tbilisi.
According to the press service of the RA Security Council, at the beginning of the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the centuries-old bilateral friendship and stressed the need to further deepen these relations, in particular, expand sectoral cooperation between the Security Councils of the two countries.
Grigoryan presented Armenia's position on the security situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and overcoming these challenges. He also presented to the interlocutor a plan for reforming the security system, in the context of which the Georgian side shared its relevant experience. The parties discussed a number of security issues.
Gomelauri presented to Grigoryan the structure of Georgia's national security and the mandate of the National Security Council.
Meanwhile, according to the press service of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Grigoryan met with the head of the Georgian Cabinet of Ministers, Irakli Garibashvili, in Tbilisi. The parties discussed good neighborly relations between Georgia and Armenia and directions for future cooperation.
The head of government thanked Armen Grigoryan for his visit to Georgia and stressed the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the region. It was said that in order to develop bilateral relations, Georgia is still ready to contribute to the regional dialogue for the development of the economy, trade, culture and other areas. The conversation focused on the Prime Minister's Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative as an important platform for dialogue.
The parties also discussed the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine. The Prime Minister noted that Georgia expresses solidarity with Ukraine and supports it politically, as well as in all international formats. Attention was paid to the humanitarian assistance that the country provides to the Ukrainian people.
During the meeting, it was said that this year is special for the friendly relations between Georgia and Armenia, as it marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
