For first 4 months of 2022, more than 300 foreign citizens received  residence permit in Armenia under simplified procedure

ArmInfo.In the first 4 months of 2022, there were about 500 applications in Armenia for obtaining a residence permit on the basis of an employment contract, more than  300 foreign citizens received a residence permit under a simplified  procedure through the Workpermit.am website.  Head of the RA  Migration Service Armen Ghazaryan announced this in the National  Assembly.

The head of the Migration Service recalled that from January 1, 2022,  amendments to the laws "On Aliens" and related laws came into force,  which simplified the procedure for granting a residence permit in the  Republic of Armenia on an employment basis, and the whole process was  digitized. "If before the introduction of legislative changes, this  process was carried out by two different administrative bodies, the  whole process could take 2 months or more, now it is carried out  through a digital electronic platform, the Workpermit.am website, the  whole process takes a maximum of 30 days," he said.

Citizens of the EAEU Member States, in accordance with Article 96 of  the Treaty on the EAEU, are exempt from the need to obtain any permit  for the entire period of the employment contract. At the same time,  in order to certify the legality of residence, persons of this  category can register on the Workpermit.am Platform and receive an  appropriate certificate. The document is issued a maximum of 1 week.  Thus, according to Ghazaryan, Armenia has made significant  improvements in this direction, the possibilities of simplifying and  further simplifying procedures for highly qualified specialists are  being considered.

The platform Workpermit.am was launched on January 1, 2022, it is  aimed at digitizing the entire process of granting work and residence  permits to foreigners in Armenia. The process begins with the online  registration of the employer. Actions on the Platform on behalf of a  legal entity (employer) registered in the system can be carried out  by any person authorized by the head of the executive body of the  employer organization. The employer, through the Platform, applies  for a residence permit for a foreigner on an employment basis. You  have to fill out a job description. To hire a foreign candidate for a  vacancy presented, confirmation from the Ministry of Labor and Social  Affairs is required. After this confirmation, the data of the  foreigner is filled in. Further, the foreigner receives a  notification by e-mail about obtaining a residence status on an  employment basis.
