ArmInfo.Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili noted that bilateral relations between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Georgia are based on mutual support and solidarity and have become an important factor in regional stability and cooperation.
Touching upon the prospects for cooperation, Aliyev noted new opportunities for partnership in the field of transport.
According to him, the two countries have common views on the development of the South Caucasus.
Thus, Baku and Tbilisi are unanimous in their views on the possibilities of developing trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia, and especially in the post-conflict period.
Noting that Azerbaijan and Georgia are ready for this, Aliyev expressed hope that "Armenia will also understand that this is the only way to establish stability and security in the region."
Darchiashvili, for his part, conveyed to the President of Azerbaijan the greetings of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and an invitation to visit Georgia.
He stressed Georgia's interest in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan. The parties exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, Turan reports.
