ArmInfo.The US supports any initiative leading to the achievement of peace peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger told  journalists on April 19. At the same time, he expressed the  commitment of the United States to work together with Azerbaijan and  Armenia, maintaining direct negotiations between them to find  solutions to unresolved issues.

"The European Union has already taken very positive steps in this  direction and the US supports these EU initiatives," he said.

At the same time, the American diplomat added that since the  establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the  United States, as well as since the independence of Azerbaijan, the  United States has been a supporter of independence and sovereignty in  the South Caucasus.

In this vein, Lee Litzenberger declared the readiness of the United  States, as a long-term and strong friend of Azerbaijan, to support  the achievement of peace in the region, the establishment of  interethnic ties, and the opening of communications.

"I would like to see the active work of American companies in the  restoration work. Some companies are already participating in this  process," the ambassador said, adding that American companies are  also participating in the mine clearance process.
