ArmInfo. The Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US State Department commented on the purpose of US mediator Andrew Schofer's visit to Yerevan.
"The United States welcomes RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's recent comments on negotiations with Azerbaijan, the recent telephone conversation between Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's commitment to the peace negotiations," the U.S. State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs said on Twitter.
" Assistant Secretary Donfried is sending Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Andrew Schofer to the region this week to discuss how the United States can best support the process," the Bureau added in a statement.
It should be noted that Schofer is already in Yerevan, where he held meetings with RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan. The peace agenda with Azerbaijan and the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh were on the agenda of the negotiations.
