ArmInfo. The State Duma of the Russian Federation at a plenary session on April 5 ratified the protocol on amending the Agreement on Peacekeeping Activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
The protocol introduces the concept of "coordinating state" "and it is envisaged that under its auspices a collective peacekeeping force (CPF) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization is being formed for use in UN peacekeeping operations.
On March 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to the State Duma to ratify the protocol on the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO.
The protocol was signed on September 16, 2021 in Dushanbe. Changes are being made to the Organization's Peacekeeping Agreement dated October 6, 2007 and provide for the possibility of using joint forces in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN through the CSTO.
