ArmInfo.Artsakh does not yet see any prerequisites for establishing peaceful relations with Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) David Babayan told ArmInfo as he stated official Stepanakert's position on the Armenian authorities' readiness to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.
"Who does not want peace? But I think it requires a balance, including geopolitical balance. We do not yet see any changes in Azerbaijan's policy toward us. We see daily provocations, sniping and other negative phenomena. If Azerbaijan changes its anti-Armenian policy, it will be a miracle and we can talk about peace," Mr Babayan said. Peace requires balance and stability, which are not yet available, he added.
Speaking of the humanitarian aid Artsakh sent to Ukraine and of the opinions that Azerbaijan has since intensified its provocations, Mr Babayan said Nagorno-Karabakh made the right decision.
"I think we made the right step. It is just a different civilization. You will recall how many mercenaries arrived from Ukraine during the 44-day war and killed our boys, how much arms, including banned arms, Ukraine handed over to Azerbaijan. And what is our response? Humanitarian aid. We have always said there are no bad people, but there are bad states. Peoples, including Azerbaijanis, are not to blame only because they have such leaders," Mr Babayan said.
The obstacles Azerbaijan is putting to the repair of the gas main supplying gas to Artsakh are stroking evidence thereof.
"That state is day by day stirring up hatred for Armenians in society. They hate us and Russia. He result is what we have now. We are negotiating resumption of gas supply. Let us hop for better," the minister said.
