ArmInfo. Armenia abstained from voting in the UN General Assembly on a resolution demanding that Russia stop the special operation in Ukraine and withdraw its troops.
So, during today's meeting of the Fifth Emergency Session of the UN General Assembly and the subsequent vote, 141 states voted in favor of the adoption of the resolution of the General Assembly, and five countries: Russia, Belarus, Syria, North Korea and Eritrea, voted against the resolution . 35 countries abstained from voting, including Armenia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and others.
It is noteworthy that Azerbaijan, Russia's new ally, did not participate in the vote at all. And another partner, Turkey, supported the adoption of this document.
It is noted that the document is not legally binding. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed his opinion about the likelihood of Russia's exclusion from the UN Security Council. In response to a related question, he stated that there was no such mechanism. On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbass. He noted that the reason for this was requests for help from the heads of the DPR and LPR.
