ArmInfo. Jean-Christophe Buisson, Le Figaro Deputy Director, is accusing Azerbaijan of committing a cultural genocide in Nagorno-Karabakh
"Azerbaijan plans to destroy the traces of Armenian heritage in Artsakh/NagornoKarabakh/ in the name of restoring an Albanian' puppet culture," he tweeted.
This is the French journalist's response to Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Anar Kerimov, who announced the formation of a "working group to restore Armenianized Albanian temples." "A cultural genocide programme!" Buisson adds.
Azerbaijan is repeating what it did 20 years ago in Djulfa (Nakhitchevan), where the 3000 medieval khachkars in the cemetery were all destroyed without witnesses! Baku justified itself with one double lie: "there was no khachkar since there have never been Armenians here," Buisson adds.
He is severely critical of the meeting between Oliver Varhelyi, EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, and Head of the Azerbaijani presidential administration HikmetHajiyev.
"While Azerbaijan continues its cultural genocide of Armenian heritage in Artsakh/Karabakh/ without anyone reacting (especially not the government France nor UNESCO), the EU welcomes its energy partnerships with Baku. This probably explains it."
"Good meeting with Hikmet Hajiyev in Baku today. Ahead of Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council we spoke of EU-Azerbaijan energy partnership+importance of energy security; discussed reinforcing our partnership under Economic&Investment Plan; spoke of South Caucasus & EU support," Varhelyi wrote.
