ArmInfo.Citizens protesting against the increase in prices for CMPTL are detained: The main responsible for this lawlessness, of course, is the treacherous and useless political power of Armenia. Human rights activist, former Ombudsman of Artsakh Ruben Melikyan expressed a similar opinion.
"The second and third places of honor are shared between the European Pharisees, who by the PACE resolution "register" the progress of democracy in Armenia, and the local Pharisees, who "attacked" the opposition MP who voted against this resolution," Melikyan noted.
It should be noted that car drivers in Yerevan today held a protest action on the Republic Square, expressing their protest against the increase in the fee for CMPTL (by 3 thousand drams for all types of insurance, ed. note). Police officers detained several protesters, the cars were evacuated to the penalty squares.
Later, the RA Police informed about the detention of 5 protesters. In fact, protocols were drawn up in connection with the violation of Article 182 - disobedience to the requirements of a policeman.
Days earlier, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) overwhelmingly adopted a resolution entitled "The Functioning of Democratic Institutions in Armenia", according to which Armenia has made significant progress in the development of democracy since 2018.
The PACE resolution states that Armenia has successfully emerged from a serious political crisis that began as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "The crisis was resolved through early elections held in June 2021, which were democratically organized despite the strong polarization of the political environment," the resolution notes. The co-rapporteurs of the resolution are Kimmo Kiljunen (Finland, SOC) and Boriana Aberg (Sweden, EPP/CD),
Armenian opposition MP Hayk Mamijanyan, who accused the MPs of bias against the background of the unlawful actions of the current government of Armenia against, including the media and political prisoners, opposed the adoption of this document.
