ArmInfo. A khachkar (cross-stone) in memory of the heroes that sacrificed their lives for Artsakh's freedom and inviolability of Armenia's borders has been set up on the ARMENAL premises. The unveiling ceremony will take place on the Armenian Army Day.
ARMENAL Director General Artur Zakaryan proposed setting up the monument. The 3-meter cross-stone is carved from a basalt block quarried near Sisian. The sculptor is Edik Hakobjanyan.
The pedestal has an inscription: "Eternal glory to heroes of Artsakh liberation war - from ARMENAL."
"Our partners have greatly contributed to the initiative. They volunteered to prepare the ground around the cross-stone and plan to landscape the territory in spring. High-quality work has been done. Good for them!" Mr Zakaryan. said.
In autumn 2020, 55 male employees of ARMENAL were enlisted as volunteers to defend the homeland. Two of them fell during the Artsakh war, and three were seriously injured.
The ARMENAL collective has on regular basis provided humanitarian and financial aid to the Artsakh families that suffered as a result of hostilities. In implementing its support programmes, ARMENAL has cooperated with the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Yerevan, as well as with a number of district administrations. The funds were also transferred to the Republican Insurance Foundation for Servicemen and provided for treating a seriously injured Armenian serviceman in Germany. ARMENAL has to date donated over AMD 30mln (over $62,000).
"Each employee is enthusiastic about patriotic actions. We are seeking to leave fond memories of ourselves," Mr Zakaryan said.
