ArmInfo. The position of the EU on the issue of the settlement of the Armenian-Turkish relations is clear - we support this process. EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar stated this in an interview with the First TV Channel of Armenia.
In particular, he stressed that the EU's position was expressed both during the meeting with the Vice Speaker, Armenia's special representative for the normalization of relations with Turkey Ruben Rubinyan, and in Ankara, where Toivo Klaar expressed hope for the contribution of this process.
At the same time, the EU Special Representative indicated that the establishment of Armenian-Turkish relations proceeds from the regional interests of the European Union. "We fully support the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey," he concluded. It should be reminded that on January 14, the first meeting of the Special Representatives for the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan and Ambassador Serdar Kilic took place in Moscow. "During the first meeting, held in a positive and constructive atmosphere, the Special Representatives exchanged preliminary views on the process of normalization through dialogue between Armenia and Turkey.
The parties agreed to continue negotiations without preconditions with a view to full normalization. The date and venue of the second meeting will be determined through diplomatic channels at the appropriate time," the RA MFA said in a statement following the meeting.
