Azerbaijan to hand another group of Armenian POWs over to Armenia

ArmInfo.Azerbaijan intends to hand over one more group of POWs to Armenia in the near future, a POW's relative told reporters without naming the source of information.  The relatives of POWs and detainees set up a picket in front of the RA  government building on Wednesday. 

Siranush Sahakyan, the human rights activist who is representing the  Armenian POWs' interests at the European Court, confirmed the  information. 

A year after the 44-day war, 46 Armenian POWs and detainees are being  kept in Azerbaijan, according to the official data. Referring to  unofficial data, Ms Sahakyan believes the number of higher.  Last  time, Azerbaijan handed Armenian POWs over to the Armenian side on  December 29. They were captured during border clashes on November 16,  2021, and were handed over through Hungary's mediation. According to  the official data, Azerbaijan has up to now handed over 140 Armenian  POWs.
