ArmInfo. Armenia handed over to Azerbaijan two detained Azerbaijani servicemen.
"On December 18, at one of the defensive areas of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, Armenian servicemen detained two border violators, who are servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. On December 20, for humanitarian reasons and with the mediation of the Russian Federation, these servicemen were returned to the Azerbaijani side," the message of Ministry of Defense of Armenia says.
It should be reminded that earlier ArmInfo wrote about the capture of two Azerbaijani soldiers by the Armenian side, one of whom is in the rank of captain. It is also worth noting that before the transfer of the Azerbaijani servicamen to Baku, the defense departments of the Republic of Armenia and Azerbaijan remained silent about the videos and frames of the detention of the Azerbaijani military circulated in the media. It is noteworthy that the Armenian side uses the term "border violators" in this case, while the Azerbaijani side in similar situations is more inclined to call the Armenian military "terrorists", "occupiers". Moreover, the Azerbaijani side mocks and tortures the captured Armenian soldiers then post pictures of torture and ill- treatment on the World Wide Web. We also remind that according to human rights activists, Azerbaijan confirms the presence of more than 50 Armenian prisoners of war, but has refused to return them for more than a year, even for humanitarian reasons, and for the same reasons, most of them were sentenced to long terms on trumped-up charges. Experts are also inclined to believe that several hundred Armenian prisoners of war and hostages are in Azerbaijani captivity.
