ArmInfo.Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, and President of France Emmanuel Macron has applauded the repatriation of ten Armenian POWs from Azerbaijan.
Happy to have been able to repatriate 10 [Armenian] servicemen. Important gesture by [Azerbaijan] in the process of addressing humanitarian issues. The EU will continue to work with both countries to build on the successful meetings of European Council president with President of [Azerbaijan] and [Armenian Premier] Nikol Pashinyan," Mr Klaar wrote on his Twitter page.
He posted pictures of the Armenian POWs flying back to Armenia.
"Ten Armenian servicemen have been released. I would like to welcome the European Union`s decisive action through which we will continue this way of dialogue to peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are advancing," reads a Twitter message by President of France Emmanuel Macron. Vahan Humanyan, Spokesman for Armenia's foreign office reported yesterday that ten Armenian POWs had been repatriated through the mediation of President of the European Council Charles Michel.
