ArmInfo. The Moscow meeting in the "3 + 2" format became a logical and natural continuation of the processes activated last fall by the 44-day war. Member of the Council of the National Democratic Pole Varuzhan Avetisyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
On January 11, a meeting between the deputy foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan was held in Moscow in the actual "3 + 2" format (without Georgia). On December 13, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced that Yerevan and Ankara will appoint Special Envoys for negotiations on the normalization of relations. Later, the press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry welcomed Cavusoglu's statement, confirming Armenia's intentions to appoint its special representative for the dialogue.
"3 + 2" is evidence of the ongoing redistribution of spheres of influence in favor of Turkey at the expense of Russia. We also see that thanks to the influence of the West - the absence of Georgia, everything is going a little differently, as the initiators of this process would like. It is obvious that "3 + 2" is not a format of strategic importance that allows one to claim the functions of the OSCE Minsk Group. And, nevertheless, participation in this format, in my opinion, does not promise anything good for Armenia, "he said.
Assessing the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations as an important and necessary step, which is welcomed by the international community, the politician noted the need to clarify the legal basis of the expected delimitation of borders with Azerbaijan, stressing that sooner or later this process will also appear on the Armenian-Turkish agenda. In this light, Avetisyan expressed his conviction that only delimitation based on international documents can ensure the realization of Armenia's national interests.
In this light, the politician sees the need to restore the institution of international arbitration with the participation of the United States, France and United Kingdom. The latter, in his opinion, will allow protecting the interests of Armenia in processes involving much larger players, for example, Turkey. Meanwhile, the very formulation without preconditions, according to the politician, means the establishment of relations on the preconditions of Turkey.
According to the politician, there is still a need for Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Accordingly, Yerevan's claims to Ankara are legitimate, in contrast to Ankara's claims to Yerevan. According to Avetisyan, the essence of the Turkish demands actually leads to the final enslavement of Armenia.
"Accordingly, all this should be viewed through the prism of logic, therefore, an extremely serious approach is required. We must abandon the diligent fulfillment of instructions from Moscow and Ankara. , We need to get out of the psychological, false deadlock into which we have been driven, towards a world in which there are countries with interests that correspond to ours. And we have to do all this ourselves, since no one will do it for us, "Avetisyan summed up.
